Sergio Mendes
Look Around

  (Item #: mendelooka_0513_1)

Our Price: $74.99

Hot Stampers are here again for this notoriously difficult to reproduce recording. This copy has A+ sound from start to finish and is lively and musical on both sides.

As you may have noticed, we here at Better Records are HUGE Sergio Mendes fans. Nowhere else in the world of music can you find the wonderfully diverse thrills that this group offers. We go CRAZY for the breathy multi-tracked female vocals and the layers upon layers of harmonies, the brilliant percussion, and, let us never forget, the critically important piano work and arrangements of Sergio himself.

Miles Davis
Bitches Brew

  (Item #: davisbitch_0513)

Our Price: $99.99

FOUR HOT SIDES, including an EXCELLENT A++ SIDE TWO! It’s not an easy album to find in clean condition, let alone a copy that actually sounds good as well. If jazz-fusion is your bag, this album will take you on a trip like few other records could. This copy, rating at least a plus across all four sides, has the kind of presence and fullness that the average pressing just can't deliver.

Joe Cocker
Mad Dogs and Englishmen

  (Item #: cockemaddo_0513)

Our Price: $99.99

This A&M pressing has four VERY GOOD sides, all earning a sonic grade of A+ or better. Side one was the best of the bunch at A++.

What this copy has going for it is that it's tonally correct and it rocks good and hard. It's not going to be a Demo Disc -- in fact, no copy of this album will be -- but this pressing is able to communicate the musical excitement created by the 30 plus players on the stage, no small feat!

Emmylou Harris
Luxury Liner

  (Item #: harriluxur_0513)

Our Price: $99.99

TWO HOT SIDES, including a near-Super Hot A+ to A++ side one! We recently conducted our first-ever shootout for this album, and we're pleased to report that the sound on the best sides is right up there with Emmylou's best -- clear, open and transparent with tons of texture and detail. The typical pressing, unfortunately, just doesn't do it justice. This one is a substantial step up!

Joni Mitchell
Song To A Seagull

  (Item #: mitchsongt_0513)

Our Price: $74.99

TWO HOT SIDES, including an EXCELLENT A+ TO A++ SIDE ONE! This is one of our favorite Joni records around here, but it is not an easy one to find good sound for. The typical copy is dark, smeary and dull, but this one is a substantial step up with the kind of sweet, delicate sound we hear all too rarely!

The Rolling Stones
Tattoo You

  (Item #: rollitatto_0513_1)

Our Price: $74.99

TWO GREAT SIDES, each clocking in at A+. We just finished a shootout for this 1981 Stones album, one that the All Music Guide tags as "essential latter-day Stones". In the tradition of other late '70s / early '80s Stones albums (Some Girls, Goats Head Soup, It's Only Rock And Roll), the sound is a bit raw at times, but this one is a substantial step up from most.

Eric Clapton
Eric Clapton

  (Item #: claptericc_0513)

Our Price: $99.99

TWO HOT SIDES on this Polydor pressing, both clocking in at A+. Rich and smooth with a big low end and some nice energy, this is a big step up over the typical copy. This is not your usual Clapton album, and that's a good thing, because most Clapton albums are full of filler. Not so here -- almost every song is good, and many are superb.

The Beatles
Yellow Submarine

  (Item #: beatlyello_0413)

Our Price: $99.99

This British Import Parlophone LP is one of the better copies we’ve ever played. That’s not saying much, because most copies sound like JUNK, but here the sound is very enjoyable. It’s not nearly as gritty, grainy, or edgy as copies we played it against. This copy rates A+ or better on both sides. It's certainly no Demo Disc, but it is one of the few good sounding copies we've heard.

Neil Young
Time Fades Away

  (Item #: youngtimef_0413)

Our Price: $99.99

TWO HOT SIDES clocking in at or above A+! Unlike most "live" albums this one was cut direct-to-disc with no fixes or overdubs. You won't get any closer to the real sound of Neil Young and Crazy Horse without a ticket, but most copies just don't have the sonic goods to bring it to life. This one is a big step up, with the kind of present, clear vocals we just don't hear too often.

Anita Baker
Rapture

  (Item #: bakerraptu_0413)

Our Price: $74.99

This Elektra LP has an EXCELLENT A++ SIDE ONE backed with a very good side two! During our last shootout for this '80s R & B classic we found a ton of god-awful pressings and a small group of winners. When this album sounds bad, it can be PAINFUL. So many copies have harsh, grainy highs and hard, edgy vocals -- qualities that completely ruin the mood of this music. When I play a Cream record, it can be a little raw and still rock my world, but an Anita Baker record's gotta be smooth and sweet, and most of them aren't even close.
