				Benny Carter Further Definitions (Item #: cartefurth_) Our Price: $39.99 This is an original Minty looking Impulse LP. What I played of this album sounded nice and smooth. There may be livelier copies out there -- I just don’t come acoss enough clean ones to know what the potential for this album is. I prefer smooth to aggressive, that’s for sure. Top players on this album include Coleman Hawkins, Philly Jo Jones, Phil Woods, Charles Rouse and others. more Info


				David Bowie David Live (2 LPs) Hot Stamper Sold! ($300) (Item #: bowielive_0609) One of the two GREATEST LIVE ROCK AND ROLL RECORDS ever made is here with SUPER HOT STAMPERS. The other top live album is of course Waiting For Columbus, and the two have much in common. Most importantly, the songs played live on both albums are CONSISTENTLY better than their studio versions. (This is especially true on the Little Feat album. Little Feat was not a studio band and their live arrangements -- with the Tower of Power horns! -- just murder the studio ones.) more Info


				Donald Byrd Blackjack Hot Side One! (Item #: byrd_black) Our Price: $59.99 This Blue Note Blue Label pressing has a GREAT SIDE ONE, rating A+ - A++. We made time to play a huge stack of Blue Notes lately and this was one of the few ’70s era pressings that didn’t make us cringe! Some of these later pressings are just plain weak, but every now and then you find one like this that clearly benefitted from the use of modern cutting equipment. The bass is tighter, the drums have more snap, and the soundfield has real depth. There’s excellent energy and good presence throughout side one, and the top end sounds just right. more Info


				Elton John Don’t Shoot Me, I’m Only The Piano Player Hot Stamper Sold! ($150) (Item #: john_donts_0609) This Original British DJM pressing on lovely reddish-purple transparent vinyl rates at least A+ on both sides! It’s not easy to find copies of this album that sound very good, but this one is dynamic, energetic and full of tubey magic. Both sides could use just a little more extension up top, but you can not argue with the big meaty bottom end that you’ll hear on BOTH sides. Most importantly, the vocals and piano sound JUST RIGHT. The overall sound is rich, smooth, and sweet. This one comes complete with the heavy paper, full-color booklet (inserted, not bound-in) with lyrics and pictures. more Info


				Led Zeppelin IV Hot Stamper Sold! ($150) (Item #: ledzeIV_0609) SUPER HOT SOUND on side one of this German Import Zep IV! We just finished an EXCEEDINGLY difficult shootout for this all-time classic, and side one of this copy had some of the better Zep IV side one sound we’ve heard in quite some time. If you’re the kind of guy who’ll get a thrill out of hearing Stairway to Heaven, Black Dog and Rock And Roll sound better than most people have ever heard, you better jump on this record QUICK. Hot Stamper Zep IV’s don’t tend to hang on the site for very long! Unfortunately, side two STINKS. I’ve got absolutely nothing nice to say about it. I can’t understand for the life of me how this side one sounds so good and this side two sounds so awful, but that’s how the record game goes. more Info


				Sam Rivers Fuchsia Swing Song (Item #: riverfuchs) Our Price: $39.99 This is a Blue Note Blue Label (’70s era) pressing with pretty good sound. We’d estimate it at about a solid A overall, but since we’ve never heard a better one this might be as good as it ever gets. The sound is clean, clear, and transparent throughout. The bass is well-defined, but I sure wish there were more of it! We almost never see clean copies of this album, so don’t hold your breath for a shootout in the near future. The vinyl plays quietly, mostly Mint Minus throughout. more Info


				Steely Dan Countdown to Ecstasy Hot Stamper Sold! ($375) (Item #: steelcount_0609) We haven’t had one on the site since 2007, but Hot Stampers for Countdown To Ecstasy are now available once again! What a copy -- both sides here rate above A+ and have lively, present sound. Not only that, but the vinyl is relatively quiet for this album -- mostly Mint Minus, slightly noisier at times on side two. I think this album shares top honors with Katy Lied as the toughest Steely Dan album to get to sound right. So many copies are congested, bass-shy, and veiled, and that’s just not gonna cut it. There’s a good reason we haven’t had one of these on the site in over 21 months, and it’s certainly not for lack of trying -- or lack of demand. more Info


				The Doobie Brothers The Captain and Me Hot Stamper Sold! ($350) (Item #: doobicapta_0609) Hall of Fame Pressing OH BABY! This is the HOTTEST copy of The Captain And Me to ever hit the site, bar none. The sound is nothing short of PHENOMENAL from the first cut to the last. Side two earned our top A+++ grade while side one clocked in just half a plus behind. You can’t even begin to imagine what we’ve gone through trying to find Hot Stampers for this album. Here’s the copy that proves it was all worth it. more Info
